About Us
The inspiration to start Contrast Care came from caring for my mother, Valerie, who lived with dementia, for many years. During this time, I was faced with many challenges which gave me an insight and a good understanding of the deep emotions involved in caring for your own family and expecting the best possible care for them.
My life was turned upside down in a very short time and I had to, like many others, balance work commitments with caring for my mother. I worked long shifts and it was difficult to get the right care at the right time and this has taught me how important flexibility is, along with having the right support in place for your loved one.
Due to this, Contrast Care will always aim to provide a personalised care package, which will ensure our clients and their families are treated as I would expect my loved ones to be treated. They are at the heart of everything we do. We ensure our clients are receiving the highest quality of care by keeping in touch with them and their families through regular reviews and meetings.
We also look after our carers by implementing an extensive training programme, standing by our mission statement by focusing on employee excellence and implementing a culture of learning in the workplace. It is by this commitment to development that we can be assured our carers are using their knowledge and skills to deliver the best possible care and support.
The Contrast Care management team has over 50 years of experience in emergency services. I have worked in the care sector for 25 years, both as a registered paramedic (SRPara) and also as part of the management team in a large NHS organisation and, therefore, have vast experience in this sector. I have a particular interest in stroke having worked closely with Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland, promoting the signs and symptoms of stroke to the general public. I also specialise in Adult Support and Protection having gained a Post Graduate Certificate.
